It looks like 2014 could be the year of the smart tracker. We've heardfor keeping tabs on how much exercise you're getting -- or not getting, in some cases -- and Samsung is rumoured to have a similar device called the in the pipeline. Well Archos has beaten them both off the starting line with this, the Archos Activity Tracker.
It monitors footsteps, calories burned, and shows the time when synced with your smart phone. The battery will last seven days, and it'll recharge using its USB connector.
The Activity Tracker will be on show at CES, Archos says in a press release. The company has a few other goodies in store, too.
Staying on a health tip, the Connected Self App will sync with the Activity Tracker (as well as Archos' other fitness gizmos) to provide key metrics, so you can see how much of that Big Mac you've worked off. It'll track your activity over time, and will let up to eight people set goals to increase motivation. So you and your co-workers can duke it out for fitness supremacy.
Archos has the Connected Scale, and the Blood Pressure Monitor, too, which do what they say on the tin.
Archos' Smart Home Tablet is a 7-inch, Android-powered slate that's designed to operate your home gadgets. If you fancy switching your lights on from halfway across the world, or recording video when motion is detected, to catch anyone with designs on your home gadgets, this is the device for you.
Archos has a whole range of gadgets to work with its Smart Home App, including a mini cam the size of a ping-pong ball, a motion ball, and a movement tag.
The Weather Station, meanwhile, gives readings for both indoors and outdoors, such as CO2 levels, humidity, temperature, atmospheric pressure, and even noise levels. It also has its own app for tracking the weather over time, and plotting it on a graph.
Excited? CES is but a week away. We'll be there to bring you all the news as it breaks, so stay tuned. What do you make of Archos' offerings? Will fitness trackers hit the big time in 2014? Let me know in the comments, or arrive red faced and out of breath over on our Facebook page.
