Apple takes Shake to OS X

Apple Computer on Monday announced a Mac OS X version of the visual effects software program Shake, as well as new versions for Linux, Windows and Irix, SGI's version of Unix. Apple acquired Shake in February when it bought the title's developer, Nothing Real.

To help convince customers to move to the Mac, Apple is offering lower prices for software in tandem with other incentives. Shake 2.5 will be available for Mac OS X for a suggested retail price of $4,950, with annual maintenance of $1,199. For Linux, Irix and Windows, the program will be available for a suggested retail price of $9,900, with annual maintenance of $1,485. Existing Shake customers will be given the option to double the number of their existing licenses at no additional cost by migrating to Mac OS X.
