Apple hires developer relations director

Apple Computer has hired Richard Kerris, former director of Maya technology at graphics software maker Alias Wavefront, as its director of developer strategies. Kerris, who officially started at Apple on Tuesday, has been a frequent guest at CEO Steve Jobs' keynote speeches since Alias Wavefront first announced it was bringing Maya to the Mac last year. In his new role, Kerris will report to Ron Okamoto, who joined Apple as vice president of developer relations in April. Separately, network equipment maker 3Com said it is nominating Fred Anderson, Apple's chief financial officer, to serve on its board of directors.
