Amazon is bringing on tens of thousands of new employees to accommodate the holiday shopping season rush.
The company on Tuesday announced that it will hire over 70,000 full-time seasonal jobs across the US, representing a 40 percent increase over the number of seasonal employees it hired last year during the same period. So far this year, Amazon has converted 7,000 temporary employees into regular, full-time workers. The company says that it will do the same with this year's seasonal workers.
Amazon has watched its holiday season grow considerably over the last several years as more people turn to online marketplaces to place their purchases. Several studies have suggested holiday online sales will continue to grow this year.
