Alliance for security

Sybase and Surety form an alliance to develop products to meet growing demand for electronic-based business data authentication.

Sybase (SYBS) and Surety said today that they have formed an alliance to develop products to meet growing demand for electronic-based business data authentication.

The companies have launched a joint initiative to provide users with data validation services for business applications on the Internet. Initially, the two companies will build a software module to link Sybase's SQL Server database to Surety's Digital Notary Authentication Service to certify electronic records.

Next year, both companies plan to author an industry specification for how the Digital Notary Authentication Service can be used in database management applications.

Separately, Sybase today inked deals with several firewall software companies, including Check Point Software Technologies, Livermore Software Laboratories, Network-1 Software and Technology, and Trusted Information Systems to allow secure Web access to SQL Server data.
