Agency opens "front door" to services

The General Services Administration has created a new division, the Office of Citizen Services and Communications, which will act as a "single front door" to services and information, GSA Administrator Stephen Perry said in a statement Tuesday. "The Office of Citizen Services and Communications streamlines the way citizens, businesses, state and local governments, and the media can get the information they need regarding the federal government on the Web, over the telephone, and in print--and soon via e-mail and fax--more efficiently and effectively," Perry said.

The OCSC will combine resources from the Office of Communications, the Federal Consumer Information Center, the Office of Intergovernmental Solutions, the Office of Information Technology and the Office of FirstGov. It will produce Web sites, telephone help lines and catalogs to provide government information.
