Halo 5: Guardians

Halo 5: Guardians is an exceptional technical achievement with a solid campaign and a compelling set of multiplayer modes. At the same time it refuses to do anything else outside of its wheelhouse, which may disappoint some players.

LEGO Dimensions

It has all the usual "toys-to-life" bugbears, but Lego Dimensions is packed with great characters, clever puzzles and a physical experience you won't get anywhere else.

LEGO Jurassic World

Lego Jurassic World freshens up the formula. You can insert your own bone-related pun here.

Battlefield Hardline

Battlefield Hardline takes the fight to the streets, but does this new episodically framed first-person shooter take the series in a welcome direction?

Just Cause 3

Just Cause 3 provides a satisfying over-the-top action experience that is guaranteed to thrill, even if it falls short in a few sub-categories.

Destiny

Destiny is a victim of the hype machine created around it. It's a refined console shooter that feels great during the action, but goes stale during just about every other component of the game.

Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix's latest epic isn't perfect, but it's a refreshing take on its most revered franchise.

The Order: 1886 PlayStation 4

The Order: 1886 is a beautiful and impressive technical achievement, but it's also chock-full of frustrating control issues. Odd pacing and a less than compelling storyline don't help either.

inFamous: Second Son PlayStation 4

While it may not be the change of pace or innovation that die-hard Infamous purists are probably after, Second Son is still an aptly executed game worthy of your attention.

Evolve PC

Evolve is a welcome evolution from the Turtle Rock Studios team and a refreshing kind of title that you likely haven't experienced before, introducing excellent four-versus-one action that can be enjoyed on- or offline.

Wolfenstein: The New Order

With just the right amount of brutality and craziness, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a genuine good-old Nazi-killing time.

Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs manages to impress at times, but its overly ambitious promise is never fully realized. There's a lot of fluff baked into the experience that might leave some disappointed and wanting more.

NHL 15

Overall, NHL 15 is a bittersweet event. It regularly exudes shades of brilliance and heightened moments of action that truly captures the best parts of hockey. But alas, it's soiled by a harsh truth. NHL 15 is missing an awful lot of features.

Bloodborne PlayStation 4

Meticulously designed for a very specific hardcore audience, Bloodborne is a marvel along those parameters. But if you're the type of player looking for a way to unwind through a game, look the other way.

FIFA 15

FIFA 15 is easily the most realistic soccer game out there, even if it at times feels a bit over-the-top.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age Inquisition isn't perfect -- but pretty close and very easily the best in the series by a wide margin.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a marvelous achievement in nearly every sense and a shoo-in for one of the best games of this generation.

Super Mario Maker 3DS

Making your own Mario levels on the go is awesome... but you can't share much with others.
