Shark Rocket

The Shark Rocket combines adequate cleaning power with a broad array of cleaning extensions into a recommendable, affordable, lightweight vacuum. Only its cord holds it back.

Dyson v6

The updated $300 price of the newly named v6 makes it stand out as one of the best stick vac buys we've tested.

Shark Rotator Pro Lift-Away

The Shark is a very good vacuum with solid construction and intuitive design. Other models may have performed better, but none of them can match this sweeper's value for the price.

iRobot Roomba 880

The Roomba 880 is the most well-rounded, capable bot we've encountered so far, but the $449 Neato Robotics XV Signature Pro still wins the pet hair performance test on all flooring surfaces.

Samsung Powerbot VR9000

Top-of-the-line models from Roomba and Neato each clean better than the PowerBot while costing hundreds less. We're sticking with those.

Tefal Air Force 360

The cyclonic vacuum cleaner from the French cookware and appliance company isn't as good as Dyson's stick cleaners. But it's pretty decent.

Neato Botvac Connected Robot Vacuum

The Neato Botvac Connected is better at cleaning floors than any other robot vacuum on the market, and it costs less than its app-enabled rival, the iRobot Roomba 980. If you're willing to live without remote controls, you can save some money by sticking with the previous generation of Neatos -- but we think this one's worth the splurge.

iRobot Braava 380t

For $300 (or £260) the Braava might be tempting, but consider holding out for something smarter, more powerful, and with more features.

Dyson 360 Eye

The 360 Eye by Dyson is a very good robot vacuum, but competitors offer similar features and better performance for less.

Electrolux Ergorapido Lithium Ion Brushroll Clean Xtra

The Ergorapido is a nice-looking, easy-to-use vacuum that's in the wrong line of work. It's a vacuum cleaner you'll enjoy taking out of the box, then want to put back into the box once it starts struggling to actually clean your floors.

Moneual Rydis H67 Pro

If you want a no-fuss floor cleaner, stay away from the Moneual Rydis H67 Pro.

LG Hom-Bot Square 2016

It's a competent cleaner, but the LG Hom-Bot Square lags far behind less expensive Neato and Roomba models. We recommend sticking with those.

Samsung Motion Sync Bagless Upright Vacuum with Fully Detachable Handheld

If your cleaning needs are limited to dust and other small stuff, this Samsung is stellar, but plenty of other uprights deliver better performance and usability for less.

Electrolux UltraPower Studio

If you're looking for a simple stick vacuum with exceptional performance, save some money and get the $180 Hoover LiNX. The $500 Dyson DC59 is a great high-end option if you want a variety of brush attachments and other special features.

Moneual U60 RYDIS UV-C Vacuum Cleaner Green

The $149 Moneual Rydis UV-C Vacuum Cleaner U60 is certainly not the most expensive handheld vacuum, but it has a few cool features that might make it worth your while.

Neato XV Essential Robot Vacuum

This robot vacuum is a whopping $320 less than the iRobot Roomba 880 and performed similarly well. However, its cheap filter makes it hard to use -- if you want a Neato, stick with the $399 XV Signature or the $449 XV Signature Pro.

Eureka Brushroll Clean Upright Vacuum with SuctionSeal AS3401A

Though not as maneuverable or as well-rounded as the competition, the Eureka Brushroll Clean with SuctionSeal is a great carpet cleaner with a couple of nice extras at a budget-friendly $200 price.

Panasonic MC-UL429 JetForce Bagless Upright Vacuum

Spend a little more and get much better performance with other vacuums.
