You can preorder a Twig by contributing as little as $18 on the product's Kickstarter page. kickstarter.com

Several other blogs have already highlighted a new Kickstarter project, Twig, a Gumby-esque iPhone docking cable, but I thought I should also throw some props its way as well.

As you can see from the video below, Twig has a few things going for it. For starters, it's compact. It also bends into a tripod stand. And finally, it's affordable (you can preorder one for $18).

In my book at least, that gives it some hope of becoming a mass-market product (you don't usually see that kind of potential from Kickstarter projects). It would also seem easy enough to reconfigure should Apple choose to go with a new mini-dock connector in future iOS devices, as some rumors suggest.

Alas, if this ever ends up as an Apple-store exclusive, you'll probably be looking at a $39 product. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
