Tools more than just show

Net-Scene showcases tools that combine Microsoft's PowerPoint presentation software with Netscape technology to provide interactive presentations.

Internet software company Net-Scene showcased a suite of online tools that combine Microsoft's PowerPoint presentation software with Netscape Communications technology to provide interactive presentations over the Net.

Debuting the tool at Comdex this week, the company said its Intranet Application Suite allows users to turn existing file formats into real-time conferencing tools that comply with the HTML document format. People watching the online presentation from disparate locations can participate using templates and wizards that comply with a Java language interface.

By supporting open Internet standards, Netscape's LiveConnect, and plug-in technology, the tools let presenters and viewers interact, the company said. Product licenses will cost $495 apiece when the suite comes to market later this year, Net-Scene said.
