Symbol to withdraw listing from NYSE

Mobile technology services provider said the planned withdrawal is subject to the completion of its acquisition by Motorola.

Symbol Technologies said on Friday it is withdrawing the listing of its shares from the New York Stock Exchange, subject to the completion of its acquisition by Motorola.

Symbol, which provides mobile technology services for businesses, is scheduled to have a special meeting of shareholders on January 9, to consider and vote upon the proposed agreement and plan of the acquisition. The acquisition was previously announced on September 19 and is expected to close soon after the special meeting.
