Standards group seeks multilingual Linux

The Free Standards Group, which is seeking to standardize aspects of Linux so it's easier for software companies and organizations to support the operating system, has launched a new project to better support Asian and Indian languages. The Asian Scripts Technology and Infrastructure (ASTI) work, part of the FSG's Linux Internationalization Initiative, will begin with work on Hindi scripts and plans to extend to others in early 2003, the FSG said Thursday.
