Short Take: Xylan debuts Ethernet modules

Xylan introduced two competitively priced Ethernet-based modules for its OmniSwitch switch platform. A new 32-port ESM-C-32 10-mbps module is priced at around $185 per port and offers high-speed packet forwarding through new Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) chip technology. A 12-port ESM-100c-12 100-mbps module comes in at about $450 per port and includes auto-sensing capabilities for desktops. Both modules are currently available.
