Short Take: Thomson, VeriSign in deal
Thomson Consumer Electronics will use VeriSign digital certificates with Thomson's $300 set-top boxes for secure Internet access from home through televisions. Digital IDs for the set-tops will carry the Thomson brand but will be issued and managed by VeriSign; Thomson's programming service, NetChannel also will use the digital certificates. Separately, Internet security firm Querisoft said it will integrate VeriSign digital IDs into Querisoft's SecureFile security software and future products.
