announced plans to ship a new version of Solaris targeted at intranets next month that the company
hopes will be a competitor to Microsoft

Solaris's reach from its current enterprise strength to touch vertical markets as well as smaller businesses. The new version costs $695 for a base five-license server and $1,290 for a full
intranet implementation with add-on applications.
