Sun Microsystems will release two low-end
servers today as part of its effort to recapture a segment of
the enterprise market. The Enterprise 5S and 10S servers will be powered by
the UltraSparcII integrated microprocessor and are similar to the Ultra
5 and Ultra 10 low-cost workstations introduced in January. Sun will sell
the servers
directly to consumers via its Web sites. Base configurations start at $4,000 for the 5S and at $6,000 for the 10S.
