Seagate Technology has opened a million-square-foot manufacturing plant in Ang Mo Kio, a Singapore suburb. The plant, capable of producing 50,000 disk drives a day, cost $135 million in fixed assets. Seagate began manufacturing in Singapore in 1982; since then it has shipped 67 million disk drives from there. Seagate's Singapore production accounts for over 55 percent of the company's disk drive revenues.
