Short Take: Narus helps network traffic analysis

Software start-up Narus announced a new set of technologies that will be delivered in products by the first quarter of next year that allow service providers to analyze the details of their network traffic down to individual user sessions. The technology, dubbed "semantic traffic analysis," essentially allows a service provider to make more educated assumptions about use of their network as they roll out new services, such as voice-over-IP or Net-based video applications. That, in turn, can allow a service provider to offer differentiated services, according to Narus executives.
