Short Take: HP returns to its roots

Hewlett-Packard's new test and measurement company will be located down the road from HP's current headquarters, the company said today. The company chose the historical site where HP built its first building in 1943, the "Redwood Building," at 395 Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, California, where all of HP's research, development, manufacturing, and administration took place during the company's early years. The test and measurement company, called just "NewCo" until a new name is chosen, was spun off from the rest of HP earlier this year.
