Short Take: Gateway ships 56-kbps modems

Gateway 2000 said it is shipping systems with 56-kbps modems based on U.S. Robotics x2 technology. Gateway said it began shipping its modems on Monday. The x2 technology allows connections at speeds of up to 56 kbps, about twice as fast as current modems.
