Short Take: First Canadian SET trial launched

Canada's first end-to-end pilot of the Secure Electronic Transaction protocol for credit card payments over the Internet has been launched by Credit Union Electronic Transaction Services (CUETS) and SaskTel. The MasterCard trial is using digital certificates from GTE CyberTrust. The three-phase pilot, launched July 21, will run for six months and initially involves 30 SaskTel and CUETS employees and three merchants. More consumers and merchants will be added in later phases.
