Network security firm Cylink has hired a former top official of the National Security Agency to become a vice president. William Crowell recently retired as deputy director of NSA, an intelligence agency that has opposed industry efforts to export hardware and software with strong encryption. He will be responsible for all product development at Cylink and will work with customers on security issues.
