Short Take: Colin Powell could join AOL board

Colin L. Powell soon may serve America Online as its newest director. The general, who gained popularity during the Persian Gulf War as President George Bush's chairman of the Joint Chiefs, would join Alexander M. Haig, former Secretary of State under President Ronald Reagan, on the online giant's board. Powell's nomination will be voted on at AOL's annual shareholder meeting on October 21.
