Short Take: Cisco augments routers

Cisco Systems augmented its midrange 4500 and 4700 routers with new modules and software features. New modules for the networking hardware support for ATM and T1/E1. New software features contained within the company's IOS package support NetFlow accounting, Tag Switching, and Cisco Express Forwarding, which all feed into various topology strategies from the firm. The hardware additions are available this month. The software enhancements will be released in the second half of this year in conjunction with the release of Cisco IOS 12.0.
