Short Take: Ascend to post modem software upgrade online

Ascend Communications will make a software upgrade available on its Web site so that users of its TNT and MAX TNT remote access hardware can update their modems to the V.90 56K standard. The company said it will interoperate with modems from other firms such as 3Com. Adoption of the standard gives users more options when choosing a modem and Net access provider.
