Short: Newbridge acquires UB Networks
In a bid to beef up its networking offerings, Newbridge Networks has agreed to acquire UB Networks from Tandem Computers. Newbridge, based in Ontario, Canada, will pay between $100 million and $150 million for the Tandem unit, depending on UB's performance between now and the acquisition closing date. The purchase will increase Newbridge's worldwide sales force to 650 people and add complementary technology to the company's product line.
