Seagate founder joins BlackBall board

Al Shugart, founder and former CEO of storage company Seagate Technology, was named to the board of directors of San Diego-based BlackBall, a specialist in rich-media storage management. BlackBall sells technology that helps companies store, manage and locate rich media files, providing real-time descriptive metadata for indexing and easily searching files.

Shugart, also CEO of investment management firm Al Shugart International, said that BlackBall's technology approach "will lead the industry in solutions that reduce the costs of storing and locating the rapidly growing volumes of rich media files." BlackBall was founded in 2000 by Bob Brown, a former vice president at Seagate.
