Samsung's new projector goes to 1,000...lumens.
LAS VEGAS--LED and 3D are the (not so) new hotness this year at CES, and Samsung is seemingly leading the charge with their newly announced monitors, HDTVs, and now digital projectors.
On Thursday, Samsung announced the launch of what it claims is the first LED data projector with 1,000 ANSI lumens, the F10M. The projector includes a LED light source that eliminates the need to replace a lamp. According to Samsung, the light source will last 30,000 hours and that the LED light source maintains its brightness over the entire life of the projector.
From an environmental standpoint, according to Samsung, eliminating the bulb--which contains mercury filaments--dramatically reduces the negative environmental effects associated with their disposal.
The LED also maintains its brightness compared with other projectors that lose up to 50 percent during the life of the bulb, according to Samsung.
The F10M comes equipped with PC-free File Viewer that lets presenters work directly from a USB memory stick on Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF documents in their native file format. Also, closed captioning and digital focus features add to the F10M's versatility.

The F10 will be available through Samsung reseller channels in the second quarter 2010. Its price is currently unknown.
