Quantum licenses tape technology

Quantum has licensed tape-drive technology called Variable Rate Randomizer from Overland Data, according to the companies. The technology, which will be used in future Quantum DLT drives, increases the capacity of data backup tapes and the speed at which data can be stored or retrieved. Terms of the deal weren't released. Overland said it hoped the licensing arrangement will help the company become profitable in 2002.
