PeopleSoft creating e-mail application

PeopleSoft said it is working with application service provider e2 Communications to create a hosted e-mail-messaging product tightly integrated with PeopleSoft business-management software. The two companies said the combined software will allow customers of PeopleSoft, based in Pleasanton, Calif., to more easily mange and automate e-mail messages linked with their core back-office software. PeopleSoft's core software automates a wide range of business activities, including a company's manufacturing, human resources and customer service needs. e2, based in Dallas, provides e-mail marketing and customer communication applications that enable companies to acquire, target and retain customers. The new hosted offering is slated to be available to PeopleSoft customers in the second quarter of 2001, the companies said. Distribution and pricing were not disclosed.
