Onyx Software expects to beat estimates

Onyx Software said Tuesday that it expects to report higher earnings and revenue than it previously had estimated for the second quarter, which ended June 30. In a preliminary earnings announcement, the company said it expects to book $18 million in revenue for the quarter, compared with an estimate of $16.2 million by analysts polled by research firm First Call. Onyx's revenue is down sharply from the same quarter last year when the company reported $28.9 million in revenue. The seller of customer relationship management software said it expects to report break-even pro-forma earnings. Analysts polled by First Call expect a pro-forma loss of 3 cents a share from the company. Onyx plans to announce final results for the quarter on July 23. The news is a reversal of fortune after the company missed first-quarter revenue expectations, along with many other business software companies.
