Nando Media, the online publishing arm of the McClatchy newspaper chain, has chosen Dell Computer servers for its Web site, the companies said Tuesday. The servers are used not only for the Web site but also for a publishing system used to manage the site's content, Dell said. The publisher uses more than 100 PowerEdge servers, which received an unplanned stress test when the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon quadrupled Web site traffic. Nando, a pioneering news Web site, also is standardizing on Dell notebooks and desktop systems. The value of the deal wasn't disclosed.
