National sex offender list goes online

Department of Justice links registries of 22 different states to let people track sex offenders across the nation.

The Department of Justice has launched an online public registry that allows people to track sex offenders across the nation. The database, which debuted Wednesday, includes the names, addresses and photos of convicted offenders.

The site links the registries of 22 different states. The remaining states are expected to join by year's end, for a total of more than 500,000 sex offenders listed, according to the Justice Department.
