Metrowerks gets new CEO

Jim Welch, the chief financial officer of Motorola subsidiary Metrowerks, has been promoted to chief executive, the company said Friday. He replaces David Perkins, who has been named general manager of Motorola's Networking and Computing Systems Group. Metrowerks produces the CodeWarrior programming tools. The tools are geared in particular for development of software for equipment used in communications, transportation, wireless, networking and consumer electronics computing devices.
