LG announces new monitors

LG is the first vendor out of the gate at CES 2010 with major monitor announcements. The company revealed a number of 3D and LED monitors today, so let's get right to them.

The E50 is sleek-looking. LG

LG E50 monitor series (20-, 21.5-, 23-inch class sizes)

  • LED backlight
  • Two-way ergonomic stand
  • Slim depth (0.69-inch)
  • Over 40 percent power saving
  • 1,920x1,080-pixel resolutions: over 22-inch class sizes

According to LG, the 23-inch version of the E50 is the first product to earn UL Environment's new Sustainable Product Certification (SPC) for high-tech equipment.

Not quite as slick as the E50, the E40. LG

The E40 line has a less sleek design than the E50, but according to LG, it incorporates all the core functions of the E50 series.

LG's new W2363D monitor adds 120Hz refresh rate--necessary for doing stereoscopic 3D.

  • SRS Tru-Surround HD
  • DVI, HDMI x2
  • Noise reduction (3D N/R)

Available in 23- and 27-inch models, the M62D incldes HDMI, DVI-D, and D-sub ports with built-in speakers.

For business users, LG announced the W46 monitor series (21.5- and 23-inch class sizes). The W46PM also boasts a height/pivot stand option and built-in speaker.

  • Brightness: 250nits
  • Viewing angle: 170/170
  • Full HD 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution(from 22-inch sizes)
  • DVI-D, D-sub
  • Low power consumption

LG says its new W2220P monitor (22-inch class size) is "ideal for consumers who work with graphics-intensive applications or Web design." This stands to reason, as the monitor uses an IPS panel and has the following specs.

  • 6ms (GTG) response time
  • Contrast ratio: 1,000:1
  • Brightness: 300nits
  • Viewing angle: 178/178(H/V)
  • 1,680x1,050-pixel resolution
  • D-sub, DVI-D, HDMI

No word on price or availability just yet, but that information should be forthcoming.
