Keane aims for government contracts with Anstec buy
In an effort to boost its business in the federal sector, computer services firm Keane will acquire Anstec, an information technology firm that focuses on federal government contracts.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With the acquisition of McLean, Virginia-based Anstec, Keane said it will combine Anstec's capabilities and client base to help expand the firm's planning, managing, and integration services to compete for larger government contracts.
Anstec marks Keane's latest acquisition in a series of deals intended to expand the firm's geographic and services reach. In June, Boston-based Keane bought Jamison/Gold, which develops Internet systems using Web technologies such as Java, Shockwave/Flash, streaming audio and video, and e-commerce applications. In May, the company acquired England-based Parallax, a privately-held company which designs and develops Web-based customer interfaces intended to help Keane round out its customer relationship management offerings.
Glenn Giles, currently the managing director for subsidiary Keane Federal Systems, will head the combined business unit, the company said.
Anstec, a privately-held company whose client base includes the Defense Department, Transportation Department, Education Department, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), offers a wide range of professional services in systems integration work, e-commerce, software engineering, enterprise network management and support, and technical management services.
Keane, a $1 billion services firm, said the deal is expected to close within the next four weeks subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
