Kaiser launches consumer Web site

Kaiser Permanente is offering to check up on Web sites that offer medical advice over the Web. One of the nation's largest nonprofit health care providers, Kaiser will post opinions from medical professionals and consumer input about these Web sites, Kaiser said in a statement Tuesday. Kaiser's new site is designed to help the public and those in the health care industry "learn the reliability of sites...Right now there is just too much information and too few practical guideposts to help users evaluate it." Kaiser estimated that there are about 40 million Americans searching for health information online. Kaiser will post results of a survey that asked more than 4,000 Americans about their favorite or most frequently visited health care Web sites.
