IBM packages solutions

IBM announces new Internet and intranet server solution packages for its RS/6000 line that include software for high-availability clustering.

IBM (IBM) today announced new Internet and intranet server solution packages for its RS/6000 line that include software for high-availability clustering.

IBM says it will ship its Cluster Internet Powersolutions with software that enables high-availability processing on their RS/6000 E30 servers. Other software that will be bundled includes Netscape Communications' Proxy Server 2.0 and FastTrack Server 2.0, as well as IBM's Internet Connection Secure Server for AIX. All software can run on another node in the network if service is interrupted.

The company says hardware and software are preconfigured, preinstalled, pretested, and shipped as a ready-to-run unit. IBM says the products will begin shipping on January 24, with prices ranging from $60,000 to $63,000.
