IBM aids Oracle users with SmartDB deal
IBM Global Services announces an alliance with SmartDB, a provider of application conversion and interfacing systems, to deliver faster implementations to IBM customers who are moving to Oracle applications.
Under the agreement, IBM said it will use SmartDB Workbench, the company's application conversion and interfacing system which is also a key part of its Oracle Consulting Practice. The Workbench system provides quick, cost effective integration between disparate applications, databases, and legacy systems, the companies said in a statement.
Privately held SmartDB said its Workbench application is a simple system used for creating reusable conversion and visual templates that capture all data transformations, mapping requirements, and application knowledge for project implementations.
In addition, SmartDB delivers prebuilt templates for its Workbench application that are ready to use with both Oracle and PeopleSoft applications, Palo Alto, California-based IBM said.
