Homestore names new general counsel

Homestore.com has named a new general counsel, the online real-estate company announced Friday. Michael Douglas replaced Walter Lowry earlier this week, said company spokeswoman DeLise Keim. Lowry, who stepped down as senior vice president and general counsel to work on other projects, will continue to work with Homestore on a contract basis as a consultant, Keim said. Douglas, whose title is executive vice president and general counsel, previously worked as a consultant and as the general counsel of building and industrial products company Fibreboard, Homestore said in a statement.

Lowry joined the company in September 2001 after a previous stint as general counsel of Business.com. The announcement about Lowry's decision to step down comes one day after Homestore announced that Barbara Alexander resigned from its board of directors.
