EDS buys Advanced Computing

Services and consulting giant Electronic Data Systems acquires Advanced Computing, a PC service and support company.

Services and consulting giant Electronic Data Systems today acquired Advanced Computing, a PC service and support company.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Advanced Computing, an 11-year-old privately-held company based in Irving, California, will operate within EDS under its existing name.

The company specializes in warranty management, registration/entitlement, repair management, and fulfillment services.

Advanced Computing's clients include AST, Canon, Compaq Services, Fujitsu, and Toshiba America Information Systems. CEO Mark Lewis will continue to lead the company.

Plano, Texas-based EDS plans to fold Advanced Computing's services into its suite of Enterprise Customer Management offerings.

The deal enables EDS to add warranty claims management to its direct marketing, call center, and distribution services.
