Digital cuts notebook prices
The HiNote VP 500 line, targeting business users, drops by an average of 11 percent.
Digital (DEC) cut prices today on its HiNote VP 500 line of notebook computers, by an average of 11 percent.
Including office productivity suite Windows 95 and also Windows NT 4.0 (for an additional $200), the machines are targeted at corporate users.
The line's flagship, the HiNote VP 575, falls $500 to $3,499. At the low end, the HiNote VP 560 is reduced $200 to just below the $2,000 mark, selling for $1999.
The 575 comes with a 166-MHz Pentium processor and a 2.16GB hard drive, while the 560 comes with a 133-MHz Pentium processor and a 1.44GB hard drive. Both models include 16MB RAM, a 12X CD-ROM drive, and 12.1-inch screen.
The mid-range HiNote VP 567 is one of two models that features a 133-MHz MMX Pentium. Its price has fallen $400 to $2,999.
