CNET News Daily Podcast: The incredible shrinking game console

CNET's Josh Lowensohn breaks down why Sony shrunk the PS3, and which video console is ripe for the next update.

Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 3 Slim earlier this week was no surprise for most gamers and industry experts. Parts that once cost a small fortune, such as hard drives, processors, and special disc-reading lenses, continue to fall in price and take up less space, so it's natural the machines that use them would shrink as well. CNET's Josh Lowensohn stops by to talk about the trend of slimmed down game consoles, and which of Sony's competitors will follow suit next.

Also in today's podcast: Microsoft gets a hearing date to appeal the injunction issued against the continued sale of Word; the Pirate Bay deal might be off; and a new manufacturing process could lead to even thinner, more flexible LED displays.
