Chipmaker joins HyperTransport group

American Megatrends, one of the leading manufacturers of BIOS chips that control the basic functions of PCs and other computing devices, announced it has joined the group setting standards for high-speed HyperTransport connections. HyperTransport is an effort initiated by chipmaker AMD to define a new high-speed technology for connecting PC components. As a member of the HyperTransport Technology Consortium, American Megatrends will help set the specifications for the standard, expected to come into widespread use over the new few years.
