Bandai unveils multimedia Web terminal
Accessing the Internet is going to be as easy as turning on your television set, according to Bandai Corporation. The Japanese-based toy giant today unveiled details about its multimedia terminal that connects to television sets for access to the Net.
Called Pippin Atmark player, the machine was made under license from Apple Computer and comes with a modem and four software titles. Pippin Atmark will be available to U.S. consumers in May for about $600, according to Bandai officials.
The machine will access the Net and run software by connecting to the keyboard and mouse of an Apple Macintosh computer.
Apple isn't selling or manufacturing the machine, but officials say the partnership with Bandai might be key to bringing the company back to life.
