AT&T offers $200 off early iPhone upgrades

The company's offer is available online, and other discounts on non-iPhones are available in-store.

AT&T is offering a discount to customers who want to get a new iPhone before their contracts are up.

When AT&T customers head over to their accounts on Monday, they'll find the option to upgrade to an iPhone for a discount. On the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB iPhone models, customers will receive $200 off the unsubsidized price. On the 16GB option, for example, customers who would normally pay $650 for an unsubsidized iPhone 5 can now pay $450. The 32GB and 64GB models are more expensive by $100 and $200, respectively.

Although it was previously believed to be a new offer, AT&T confirmed to CNET today that this is not a new promotion.

"This is business as usual," the spokesperson told CNET in an e-mailed statement. "We offer an early upgrade option for customers with an account in good standing and who purchased their current phone at least 6 months earlier."

Update 2:47 p.m. To include mention that this program has been ongoing, as well as AT&T's statement on the matter.
