In an effort to bolster its 3D development efforts, Dimension X acquires Anyware Fast, a small graphics software developer and consultant.
The San Francisco-based Dimension X is a leading developer of 3D and 2D Java applications, including the Liquid Reality and Liquid Motion tools. In August, the company received a significant endorsement from Microsoft, which announced plans to incorporate Dimension X's 3D viewer technology with its Internet Explorer 3.0 browser.
According to Karl Jacob, CEO of Dimension X, the acquisition of Anyware Fast will strengthen his company's expertise in the 3D development. About seven people will join Dimension X from Anyware Fast.
"They have seven-and-a-half years of hard-core 3D API development," said Jacob. "They've also done a lot of Java work. To get this group, we're pretty psyched."
Financial details about the acquisition were not disclosed.
