Agile appoints chief operating officer

Software maker Agile said Tuesday that it has appointed Jay Fulcher as president and chief operating officer. Fulcher has had executive posts at a number of other software companies, including PeopleSoft and SAP. Fulcher will report to Agile's chief executive and chairman, Bryan Stolle, who previously held the posts of president and COO.

Agile, based in San Jose, Calif., sells software applications designed to help manufacturers electronically coordinate product engineering plans and design changes. The company had agreed to be acquired by e-business software company Ariba last year, but the deal fell through after Ariba missed earnings targets amid declining demand for its software.
