3D Add-Ons to Headline Comdex Intros

As the hoopla at Comdex starts up in Las Vegas today, industry insiders are predicting the introduction of a slew of 3D-related products aimed at making PCs more interactive and more fun to use for home users.

On the hardware side, S3 Incorporated is expected to announce a $40 3D chip that PC manufacturers will use to build $200 3D accelerator boards. As many as 12 board manufacturers are expected to reveal plans to use the new S3 chip.

Currently the only thing stopping 3D from taking off is the lack of a specification for 3D game builders interested in creating titles for Windows 95 users.
