Your searches on Facebook to show up in activity log
Along with what you read, post and Like, Facebook now tracks what you search.
Facebook is tracking what searches you've made and displaying it in your activity log, the company noted in a blog post today.
In addition to any other activity tracked on your profile, Facebook has added search activity to your log (you can read the log by clicking the "Activity Log" button at the top of your profile). Facebook is rolling out the additional activity tracking in the next few weeks.
Facebook was quick to remind users that the activity log is for your eyes only -- your friends don't get to see the log. But, the activities on the log have different privacy settings. You can set those using the icons to the right of each activity.
"Just as you can choose to delete any of your posts, you can use the same inline control on Activity Log to remove any of your searches at any time," the post reads. "It's important to remember that no one else can see your Activity Log, including your search activity."
The company declined to say if the new tracking would help tailor future search results -- Facebook doesn't share any details on its search or news feed systems, a spokesperson said -- but recording your search activity shows how Facebook is paying more attention to its search tool.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made some media waves last week when he talked aboutFacebook planning to beef up its search product.
